Entry: Anam Cara, J/122
If there was an award for the most Oregon Offshores raced, Portland's own Tom Kelly would be in the running with 35 of 40 (not to mention about the same number of Swiftsures)! In fact, his first race was in 1977 back when the race course headed south to Tillamook before going North. Around 1984 Tom set the OOR elapsed time record aboard Wizard. This record held for a solid eleven years. As you might know, all standing OOR records were annihilated back in 2014! Tom has won the race overall before and he hopes to do it again. We are pleased to have Anam Cara, J/122 with PHRF rating 42, back for yet another race this year!
Entry: Whoodat, Tartan 33
We love to see new boats racing in the OOR! With a skipper, Kevin James, hailing from Spokane and a boat, Whoodat a Tartan 33, hailing from Port Townsend, they have Washington state represented. Kevin is no stranger to the ocean with several deliveries across the Pacific under his belt. He is planning his second attempt at a Singlehanded TransPac next year (first 2014 attempt thwarted off the coast of Mendocino when he made it through a gale in one piece but the boat didn't). If that's not enough, he is planning to also race Van Isle 360, Pac Cup, and Vic Maui in the near future. We love that aggressive line up! Welcome Whoodat and crew

Entry: Cool Change
Entry: Abstract, J/105
Lots of J/105s this year! This will be Abstract’s first Oregon Offshore. And it will be the first Oregon Offshore for
four of her six crew; however, overall the crew’s total experience
makes up for any perceived shortcomings. This includes many Oregon Offshore races for the remaining two crew members and other Ocean races including Fastnet! and in multiple Swiftsure races and Bridge to Bridges so the crew should have enough to
be in the game. Future plans include this year’s Swiftsure, where there is a
one design class for J/105s, and next year’s Pacific Cup in the Doublehand
division. Glad to have Portland based skipper, Doug Pihlaja, and crew join us!

Entry: Hana Mari, Wylie 43
Hana Mari, skippered by Ged McLean, is a Wylie 43 built in Portland at our Title Sponsor, Schooner Creek Boat Works,
and is now sailing out of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club in Victoria,
British Columbia. Hana Mari has been actively racing in BC since 2011
and in that time she has sailed all the big long distance races multiple
times including Southern Straits, Patos Island, Swiftsure, Round the
County and the VanIsle 360. In 2016, after completing her second Oregon
Offshore Race, Hana Mari won its division in the Swiftsure Lightship
Classic. Her crew is looking forward to the adventure of the Oregon Offshore. PHRF 66
Kick Off Party Tonight!
Entry: Blue Martini, Valiant 50
Entry: Riva, J/46
Riva is a J46 based in Portland Oregon. She has had an active
racing schedule since 2003 with almost annual participation in both the
Oregon Offshore and Swiftsure races. She has taken first place trophies
numerous times in both races in her division and class. She is also also
a three time veteran of the Pacific Cup race from San Francisco to
Hawaii in 2006, 2010, and 2016. Welcome back Riva!
PHRF rating 45
Entry: Sloop Dawg, Beneteau 405
Another first time entry, Sloop Dawg, a Beneteau 405 skippered by Adam Marvin, hails from Seattle, WA. Although this is Sloop Dawg's first Oregon Offshore race, Adam and crew raced last year aboard Canard, a Jeanneau 36i. Shortly after, the crew raced their fourth Swiftsure and first ever Vic Maui. Sloop Dawg will stay around for Swiftsure's Juan De Fuca race. PHRF rating 93.
Entry: Sol Pacifico, Catalina 470
First time entry! Sol Pacifico, a Catalina 470 skippered by Randall Barnes, hails from Seattle, WA. Sol Pacifico is named after the skipper's preferred cervezas mexicanas; however, since moving from Los Angeles to Seattle, you're more likely to find the holds packed with more aggressive varieties to fend off the Nothern cold. Sol Pac has traditionally been crewed by a diverse international race team. This year is no exception with crew members originally hailing from the US, Canada, Iceland, South Africa, Belgium, and Great Britain. Randall will also race Sol Pacifico in the Swiftsure Lightship Classic.
PHRF rating 141
Entry: Desperado, New York 36
Jerry Barnes has been an active part of the Oregon Offshore Race for years, both behind the scenes and on the water. This year Jerry has decided to go all in with his New York 36, Desperado. She last raced the OOR in 2013 with a memorable photo finish, 14 seconds between the second, third and fourth place boats in the fleet! Welcome back! Hope you have a WHALE of a good time
Double Hand, Swiftsure 2013
Entry: Rage, Wylie 70
Skipper David Raney did not disappoint again this year. He and the Rage crew will represent Portland in hopes to keep the legacy going strong. Rage, Wylie 70, was First to Finish and First in Class in the 2016 race and has previously snagged their fair share of victories before that. Rage will race Swiftsure then begin the rigorous preparations for Pac Cup 2018. PHRF -63
Entry Escape Artist, J/105
Looks like we're gonna have ourselves some friendly J/105 competition this year. First time participant, Escape Artist, skippered by Dana Sibilla, is the "youngest" of the four Portland based J/105 One Design teams. While this is the first Oregon Offshore for the boat, the combined experience of the crew will bring some stiff competition on the race course. Once in Victoria, Escape Artist will stay for Swiftsure then plans to make her way over for Whidbey Island Race Week for a second year.
PHRF rating 93
Entry from Stay Gold, Morgan 36T
Always great to welcome new boat participants! Hailing from Gig Harbor, WA, Team Stay Gold, with skipper Brian Bugge, is an average group of sailors bound by their limitless passion for the sea. With a spirit of never-say-die, they'll stay gold until the end- no matter what comes their way. The plan is to continue on to Swiftsure before heading over to Her new permanent home, Hawaii. Good luck to you! PHRF rating 126
Entry received for Velocity
Although skipper, Tom Keffer, took last year off to race the Pac Cup, he still helped us out on the start boat and for that we are grateful! That being said, we certainly are glad to have him back on the racing side of things this year. Velocity, J/42, is no stranger to the OOR. With a PHRF rating of 72, she is sure to keep things interesting!
